Meet Chris and Betsy Head

FOUNDERS

Betsy and Chris Head met as music majors at the University of Georgia in the early ‘80’s. The pair married in 1989 and, after careers in music, ministry and technology, they found the senior care industry in late 2000 and embraced an opportunity to own a business that truly made a difference in their community. Senior care was near and dear to their hearts, as they both had widowed mothers in their 80’s who lived alone several hundred miles away in Georgia. Their first office opened in Roanoke in early 2001, and in the fall of 2003, they began caring for seniors in Lynchburg through a second office.

Early on the Heads began to build an amazing team of Caregivers and Administrative staff, and all became like the large, extended family Chris had grown up in. Betsy started the business, running everything but billing and payroll, which were Chris’s responsibilities. Their business quickly grew until, within a few short years, they employed nearly 250 Caregivers between the two offices. As their business grew, their family aged, and Chris lost his mother in 2006 after a brief illness. During a time of decision-making for the five siblings, Chris led his brothers and sisters through the complexities of navigating the care options presented during his mother’s last days.

Betsy’s mother lived to the age of 97 and declined slowly through her last decade of life. Betsy and her brother navigated the difficult subjects of helping her accept no longer driving, managing incontinence, negotiating multiple doctors’ visit schedules, and concerns about safety, falls, and nutritional support. This experience fed Betsy’s commitment to care for every client as if they were her own parent.

When not at work, Chris and Betsy enjoy spending time with their three married children, two sons-in-law and a daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters. They are very involved in the communities they serve. Since 2004 Betsy has coordinated a large Christmas gift-giving program to lonely, isolated seniors across a seven-county area encompassing Lynchburg and Roanoke. Each year, working with a large team of volunteers, this program provides gifts for nearly 2000 seniors ages 65 and older. In 2011 Chris was asked to run for a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates, and he served the 17th  district in this capacity until November of 2023, when he was elected to the Virginia Senate where he now represents the 3rd Senate district. Chris has taken his passion for serving seniors and his understanding of the complexities of owning a small business, along with his knowledge of the homecare industry, and has become a dynamic member of Virginia’s General Assembly. Chris uses his diverse background to advocate for seniors across the Commonwealth of Virginia. He currently serves on the Joint Commission on Healthcare and the Commonwealth Council on Aging.

Betsy and Chris also enjoy spending time traveling, biking, cooking, and spending time at the lake. Jesus Christ is their Lord, and they are deeply involved in their local church family. Theylive life seeking to honor God through service to their community.
